Corporate Modelling believe enterprise business improvement is within everyone’s grasp. Gone are the days where improvements or, more importantly, the justification of improvements, was purely for specialist operational analysts or required an in-depth knowledge of statistical or accounting practices. At Corporate Modelling we pride ourselves on providing the right tools for the enterprise regardless of their current progress along the path of creating an operationally excellent company.
There are many ways in which continual operational improvement can be managed, measured and delivered. We shall look at the Capability Maturity Model for the well known and simplistic approach, which, while aimed at a software based solution does in fact have a good structure for the progression of the business operations from haphazard to operationally excellent.
The Capability Maturity Model has five levels of improvement:
1. Initial: processes ad hoc and chaotic; budget and time
overruns the norm.
2. Repeatable: basic stabilising foundation established. Organisation is
able to repeat past successes.
3. Defined: common framework deployed for processes – based on
best practice and using continuous improvement.
4. Managed: knowledge gained in level three leveraged to stabilise
processes and make performance more predictable.
5. Optimised: focus moves to continuous improvement – through
incremental and innovative technological gains.
This maturity approach works in all process driven industries and most companies aiming at improving their operations can identify with these stages in their lifecycle of improvement.
As well as dealing with process improvement, Corporate Modelling was also set up to deal with improvements across the board of operational excellence. Depending on your current and future aspirations of operational excellence, we can deliver the right tools at the right time.
